Parent Consultation Evenings
At Giles Brook, parent consultation evenings are held twice in an academic year. We ask all parents to make an appointment and to come in and meet with their child's class teacher to discuss their child's progress, their attitudes to learning and their social and emotional development. It gives parents the chance to look through their child's work and to share with their children what they have been working on in school.
Evenings are generally held in October and February. Appointments are advertised 2 weeks in advance of the consultation week.
We use the online booking system for parents to book appointments with their child's teacher.
In recent times, it has been necessary to communicate differently. When parents are not able to access the school for consultations, these appointments take place online. These are booked using the same system. Any appointments not met will convert to a telephone conversation between home and school. Although it is more difficult to share work with parents online, we will of course allow books to come home over a weekend, if we feel this it is useful to you.
Short Target reports are sent out in the late Autumn/beginning of the Spring Term. These identify the target areas your child is working on and their next steps. Progress towards achieving these goals then forms part of the Spring Parent Consultation. This also happens at the end of the Spring Term/beginning of the Summer Term.
Annual Reports to parents will be issued in July. These include the outcomes of any statutory assessments. An Open Evening is held in the Summer Term. Parents are invited to make a further parent consultation if they wish to follow up on any comments made within the report.
